Frequently Asked Questions
Is 3D Ultrasound safe for my baby?
3D and 4D ultrasound use the same frequency as your doctor uses in the normal 2D ultrasound. Ultrasounds have been used for over 35 years and there have been no proven side effects from its proper use.
When is the best time to get good pictures?
That depends on what you are looking to see. By 25-34 weeks mothers can see a more detailed face. Between 28 and 32 weeks, your baby develops more fat and gets a more defined face. After 34 weeks, it becomes more and more difficult to obtain good pictures since the baby is running out of room. However all babies are different which is why we include a free return visit if the first one is unsuccessful.
What should I do before my scan?
Drink plenty of water even several days before your appointment to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear. About a half hour before your 3D/4D ultrasound scan, try to drink a fruit juice so that your baby will be awake during your session (unless you are told not to by your physician).
Can I bring friends and family?
Yes! We encourage you to bring friends and family to share this special moment with you. However, because of space in our ultrasound rooms we need to limit your guests to (2) additional people.
When Do I get my pictures
Less than 5 minutes after your session has ended.
What is the difference between at 2D/3D/4D Ultrasound?
Traditional 2D Ultrasound
Provides 2-dimensional outlines and flat looking images of the baby.
Can be used to see internal organs.
Images are in black and white.
2D is primarily used for gender determination for better accuracy.
Provides you static three-dimensional external images of the baby.
3D allows us to see still images of the baby sucking their thumb, yawning and smiling.
Colored photographs are taken in 3D.
4D Ultrasound Live HD
Provides you three-dimensional images that are continuously updated.
So it becomes a moving image, like watching a movie.
With 4D, you can watch your baby move, smile, yawn and play with their toes!
